Walk the Line College Town Video           For this project, I walked very slowly down St. George Street, then sped up the footage to make it appear as if I am moving at a normal rate, while everyone around me is moving quickly. I wore a Flagler College sweater to signify that I am a student. This is an idea I had had earlier and considered doing for the One Mark Against Many project, but decided it did not neatly fit the criteria, and scrapped it. Reading Response "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift has stuck with me since I first read it in high school, which is why I chose it as the reading for my week. I wanted to see how others would respond to something this provoking. I've always found it impossible to read this article without ceding at least a little humanity in the interest of the greater good. Naturally, it is gross and immoral to conceive of the actions proposed in the proposal actually coming to fruition. Yet, it is that word "naturally" that strikes me so pointedly. Why is it that it is only natural to consider the act of killing babies evil? Why is there a concept of good and evil? It's heartbreaking to think anyone could consider killing and eating babies to be okay, but if it would benefit all of humanity, why do we feel that way? Even if not for the greater progression of our species, but just for ourselves, why wouldn't we be able to consider this as a genuinely viable optio...

Map Relief Process           I began with two pieces of scrap foam that I found in a bin, and I glued them together using wood glue and wooden rods for support. Once I had a secure form, I used a small saw to create an organic shape, and sanded the corners to make it less angular.            Once I had my shape, I covered the whole thing in several layers of gesso to make it white and paintable.            Then I began working on the different sections. For the top, I rolled tracing paper very tightly and dipped it in a mixture of scarlet, orange, and brown ink to create a blood-like color. I would end up using this color for the veins painted on later. Once I had my tendrils, and they were dry, I began gluing them on. Note: The gel medium causes the ink to bleed.
